Project Overview:
The Shangri-La Hotel at Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, is an exceptional fusion of Arabian architectural elegance and luxury hospitality. Located on a 1-kilometer stretch of private beach and surrounded by lush gardens, the hotel offers a serene retreat with panoramic views of the strait separating Abu Dhabi Island from the mainland. The hotel is strategically positioned between the Al-Maqtaa and Al Musaffah bridges and is adjacent to the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

  • Accommodations: 213 luxurious rooms and suites, 6 private villas, and 160 serviced apartments ranging from studios to four-bedroom units
  • Amenities: The hotel features seven restaurants and bars, exclusive access to a private beach, an infinity pool, a health club, and recreational facilities. The complex includes landscaped gardens, a suq (market), and the signature Shangri-La CHI spa.

Responsibilities and Achievements: As Construction Manager, I played a pivotal role in realizing the project's vision by:

  • Leading coordination efforts with stakeholders including ALEC, AJES (client representatives), and design teams to meet high standards of quality and luxury.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with the owner's representative and reporting progress to the Managing Director of DEPA Abu Dhabi.
  • Managing the project through construction stages to its soft launch in 2007, ensuring that all project milestones were met.
  • Overseeing resource allocation, identifying challenges, and devising effective solutions to maintain timelines and quality.
  • Conducting inspections and addressing design-related challenges to ensure seamless execution.
