Overview

The newly inaugurated College of Engineering building at Qatar University is a state-of-the-art academic landmark that reflects the university’s commitment to excellence in education and research. Designed to accommodate approximately 5,200 students, it provides an advanced learning environment that integrates sustainability, innovation, and modern technology. The facility also houses 264 faculty members and staff, fostering a dynamic academic atmosphere that encourages collaboration and creativity.

Project Overview

This architectural masterpiece was constructed in accordance with the highest engineering standards. The building consists of a basement, ground floor, two upper floors, and a rooftop, incorporating 596 rooms, six entrances and exits, and 17 elevators. It boasts modern glass facades, the use of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GRC), and expansive green spaces totaling 9,549 m², with 4,869 m² on the ground level and 4,680 m² on the rooftops.

Project Details

1. Main Building (Total Floor Area: 72,161 m²)

The main structure is divided into three distinct buildings, each dedicated to a specific engineering discipline:

Building A – Civil and Mechanical Engineering

Building B – Architectural and Chemical Engineering

Building C – Electrical and Computer Engineering

2. Annex Building (Total Floor Area: 4,211 m²)

This building houses mechanical laboratories, offices, and electrical equipment rooms.

50 Modern Classrooms – Equipped with the latest interactive learning technologies.

79 Advanced Technical Laboratories – Supporting hands-on experiments and research activities.

Building Floor Breakdown

Basement Level – Includes student entrances, classrooms, a main lobby, fountains, and a parking area accommodating 282 vehicles with two ramps.

Ground Floor – Features three dedicated entrances for female students, a separate entrance for male students, a wooden partition for segregation, a shared lecture hall, classrooms, laboratories, and gender-specific auditoriums.

First Floor – Houses laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, architectural design studios, faculty offices, and meeting rooms.

Second Floor – Contains faculty offices, a learning resource center, laboratories, classrooms, and additional meeting rooms.

Rooftop – Reserved for HVAC and electrical equipment.
